When and Where Can I Volunteer

Milwaukee DMV offices(Teutonia, Mill Road, and Chase)

(4 shifts at each location, each weekday)

(8:30-10:30, 10:30-12:30, 12:30-2:30, 2:30-4:30)

(3 shifts: 9:00-11:00, 11:00-1:00, 1:00-3:00)

FAQ's

I am interested in volunteering. How do I start? Contact Laura at info@milwaukeevoterproject.org and she will get you started!

How long are shifts? Shifts are 2 hours long. You can sign up for any day or time on our Signup Genius account. If one shift seems too short for you, please feel free to sign-up for a second or third !

How long does the training take? The training is about 1 hour and is completed via Zoom. There are also some online training videos that can make your volunteer experience even better. In person support for the first shift is available.

What can a voter use for acceptable proof of residence? We need to get a scan of one of the following: driver's license, state ID, utility bill, pay stub, affidavit from homeless shelter, lease, tribal ID, IRS check, student ID & fee receipt, or a bank statement or any government document with correct name and address.

Can people show me these documents on their phones? YES! Have them take a screenshot and text / email to Jim at jamesengle59@gmail.com or #262-617-9877.

I speak Spanish. Where can I best use this skill? Spanish speaking volunteers are encouraged to sign up at the Chase location or watch for events taking place in the Hispanic community.

Is the Milwaukee Voter Project a partisan organization? No. We are a non-partisan organization. Our goal is to simply register everyone to vote allowing them to participate in our democracy.

Can I bring a friend or two to help? The optimal number of people to work at one time is two. We recommend that you do not have more than 2 people at one shift.

What should I do if I have a problem while I am working a shift? Call Jim at #262-617-9877 and he will be able to answer any questions you have. If Jim is not available, call or text Laura at #847-652-0510.

I’m not a Wisconsin Resident. Can I still register voters? YES! You do not have to be a Wisconsin resident to register voters in Wisconsin.
